Girls on the Run is hiring a full-time Program Director

Position Profile

The Girls on the Run® Program Director must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades. The Girls on the Run programs provide a safe and interactive way to learn about healthy choices related to being positive, goal-setting, cooperation and setting boundaries. The innovative curriculum introduces girls to the components of a physically and emotionally healthy lifestyle, resulting in joyful, healthy and confident girls.

The Program Director reports to the Girls on the Run Executive Director and is responsible for managing all of the Girls on the Run programs and coaches. The part-time Program Coordinator supports the Program Director. Some of the key responsibilities falling within these areas include:

Site Management

  • Work with the staff team (Council Director; Program Events Manager; Program Coordinator) to implement the Girls on the Run strategic plan and achieve goals with respect to program sustainability & growth
  • Conduct Program Outreach and present the GOTR and Heart & Sole program to potential sites to meet established new site growth targets
  • Coordinate with new and existing sites prior to and during the season to ensure each site is prepared to facilitate the program to meet consistent, high quality experiences and outcomes for participants
  • Be familiar with all compliance issues and policies related to volunteers and sites and ensure sites are aware of and adhering to established policies and procedures
  • Conduct seasonal evaluations to ensure the needs of volunteers and participants are being met as well as established outcomes.

Coach Management and Training

  • Manage all aspects of coach training, and compliance with CPR & First Aid and background check requirements to ensure quality and consistency of program delivery among sites
  • Develop ongoing coach recruitment and retention strategy

Curriculum/Equipment Management

  • Manage inventory and distribution of program curriculum, materials and supplies
  • Purchase and facilitate distribution of all materials including: curriculum, coach boxes and program equipment to registered sites.

Budget and Administrative

  • Work with Executive Director to develop and manage program budget
  • Ensure site data & information including rosters, girls, coach files, numbers & revenue is kept up to date in Raceplanner system

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Passion for Girls on the Run mission and the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate with confidence issues including girls’ empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health
  • Outstanding communication/presentation skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences (internal and external)
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and make efficient, strategic decisions
  • Flexible and adaptable

Preferred

  • Experience with Girls on the Run (or other similar youth or wellness programs)
  • Non-profit management experience
  • Fundraising experience
  • Connections to the local community
