Volunteer Opportunities:
Bring Girls on the Run to your school.
Site liaisons are responsible for going through the appropriate channels to get a program started at a particular site. This can be a teacher, an administrator, a parent, or anyone interested in seeing this great opportunity become available for girls at their school. You are responsible for gaining the necessary permission and lining up a minimum of two coaches to deliver the lessons twice a week immediately following the school day. To get the process started, simply print and fill out a site sign up form for the Fall 2012 season and submit it to Capital Area Girls on the Run. Deadline to apply for Fall 2012 is May 30, 2012. Site liaisons may also be coaches or volunteer in other ways with our Council.
Change Girls’ lives, change your life.
There are many ways to volunteer with Capital Area Girls on the Run. You’ll find these opportunities are just as rewarding for you as the GOTR program is for the girls!
Coaching is a great way to have a tangible impact on 3-8th grade girls. Coaches must be available one or two days a week during the season, during hours immediately following the school day. They must attend a mandatory training session prior to each season and one coach per site must be CPR/First Aid certified (GOTR incurs the fee).
Running Buddies volunteer to run with one of our participants during the season ending 5K run/walk and offer the girls encouragement prior to the event.
5K Race Staff help provide support and direction to runners along the course at the local Girls on the Run 5K held annually in May. (Inaugural event: May 19th, 2012)
Committee Members volunteer to help plan or staff the 5K race or assist with fundraising events throughout the year.
One Day Volunteers are contacted on an as needed basis to help fill race bags, prepare Coaches’ boxes or assist with data entry.
