Because this is an extremely busy time at the end of the school year, we want to give all potential teams some additional time to register for the Fall 2014 season. The deadline for team applications will be extended until June 30th. If you are interested, please see the “Host a Team” page under the “Get Involved” tab. Capital Area Girls on the Run announces new Council Director, Gillian Byerly

The Capital Area Girls on the Run Board of Directors is very pleased to announce the appointment of Gillian Byerly as the organization’s new Council Director. Having worked at the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg for the past 7 years, Gilly has experience in nonprofit fundraising, event planning and youth empowerment and development. She has also been a volunteer and Board Member for the Capital Area Girls on the Run.
Gilly has great passion for the Girls on the Run mission, which is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident. Girls on the Run founder Molly Barker says “The only requirement to having a dream, is believing in it.” In Gilly’s own words: “Leading an organization that offers young girls the opportunity to reveal their greatness; that recognizes the importance of strong, independent minded young women who are fearless in their pursuit to reach their potential and unhindered by the distorted and manipulated images of an increasingly narrow view of beauty, is my dream. It is what I believe in.”

Register for the 2014 Spring 5K

Online registration is now closed!
This unique, family friendly 5K is open to the public! We hope you will join our girls as we celebrate the end of our Spring 2014 season on May 17th! Features:
- Safe, paved, mostly flat course on the scenic Milton Hershey School campus
- Chip timed
- Age group awards
- Strollers and walkers welcome. (Sorry, no pets.)
All proceeds benefit Capital Area Girls on the Run, allowing us to continue improving and expanding our transformational after school program for 3rd-8th grade girls in Dauphin and Cumberland Counties.
